some time ago I wrote some elisp code that

when you press x when inside a elfeed-search entry some meta-data is fetched from the internet and displayed.

I have since that ditched that code because it causes emacs to lock up.

Can anyone give some high level pointers about what I can use to a) send something like a curl request out to the www b) and when a response comes, updates the ui via a (message "") c) without blocking/locking up emacs at all
