I want to give an elisp command which extracts the words between two arbitrary symbols. I searched google for elisp and the first item was emacs lisp, which I guess it means a variant of lisp used in emacs. Now, I'm not a programmer and I don't intend to learn lisp or inner workings of emacs, at least for the time being. Don't know what happens in the future. So could someoone kindly guide me to a modest document which explains how to give an elisp command in emacs?
This is the command I want to execute on a txt file:
(when (string-match "<br>\\(.*?\\)<" STR) (match-string 1 STR))
