When i am trying to rename a file in dired-mode, for just find a file with (C-x f), it uses auto-completion to help me out. Most of the time this is super useful. However when I am trying to rename a file from say FeaturePretest.cs to Pretest.cs, it will always find the file that has my desired test as a substring and return that. Is there a keybinding that lets me use exactly what I entered rather than using the suggesting completion?

Dired does not do autocomplete on its own. You must be using something else also (autocomplete? company?) - what? Tell us what you're using, or show your code. First start by starting Emacs with emacs -Q, to see if you get the same behavior (you won't, I think). If you don't, bisect your init file to find the culprit. – Drew Apr 10 '19 at 23:49
