I have created a very simple org mode capture template to collect my random thoughts throughout the day. When in Emacs, I hit f6 and voila: capture template. However, in order to log the capture while working in another program on my mac, I need to first find the window running Emacs, access the template, log the capture, and then go back to the work I had be doing previously. If random thoughts keep coming up, I get bogged down by switching back and forth between programs.

Is there a simple way of accessing an org mode capture template from another program in a mac and then quickly returning to the work I was doing previously?

  • Howardism might be useful. It talks about capturing from web browser shell commands. – codingquark Jul 25 at 11:39
