The memoize package provides a memoize wrapper that installs a memoized function over the original functions. (memoize 'expensive-function) will replace expensive-function in place with a memoized version that keeps an in-memory cache.

Is there a similar function that persists the cache to the filesystem so that it persists between session? If not, what would be the smart way to write it? Perhaps advising the memoize function with a history variable and invoking (savehist-mode)?
