I tag projects with :agenda: tag and use for various agenda reviews, the top level task then having the various project stages (READY, ACTIVE, etc.)

In my weekly review process I want to review the tasks in each of my active projects (or all really) and revise as necessary. Is working directly in the .org file really the only option or can people recommend an agenda custom view that lists project/task hierarchy and the subtasks under projects? I expect there is an easy config but I haven't seen an example nor figured out a suitable config.
