Is there a way to disable pretty display for empty subscripts and superscripts in Org mode? So "X_{}" wouldn't be prettily displayed, but everything else, e.g. "X_{1}", would be.

I ask because there seems to be a subscript (and superscript) conflict between pretty entities in org-mode and electric-pair-mode. Typing "X_{" automatically adds the closing "}" (because of electric mode) which then hides the entire "_{}" (because of pretty entities), thus making it seemingly impossible to put the cursor between the "{" and "}" without disabling pretty entities.

Somewhat relevant: I'm aware of the org-pretty-entities-include-sub-superscripts variable.

This might be a good opportunity for me to learn some elisp. If you think so, please let me know, and if you have any tips, I'd most grateful.
