This is one of the many company's repositories, and the apparent difference between this one and many others that work more or less fine is that it has a huge number of merge commits. The way CI is configured it makes those commits. Unfortunately, fixing this practice is out of my hands, I was just wondering if there's anything I can do to make Magit work faster in this context.
I looked here: https://magit.vc/manual/magit/Performance.html as well as other "magit is slow" articles, but neither describes the same problem that I'm having. The slow operations are "refreshing the status buffer", staging anything, committing anything. However, displaying the log is reasonably fast, displaying the diff is reasonably fast. I don't really know where the problem is coming from.
