My habits and tasks with repeaters (e.g. tasks with this below the task name DEADLINE: <2022-05-17 mar +1m>) stopped working, in the sense that when I do C-c C-t and I select DONE the task state gets moved to DONE instead to increment the date without changing its state. This happens both in the org file and in the agenda view.

Emacs version: 26.3

This seems to be my org version:

org 9.1.9 built-in Outline-based notes management and organizer

I have a custom sequence of states:

(setq org-todo-keywords '((sequence "TODO(t)" "NEXT(n)" "WORKING(w)" "HOLD(h)" "|" "DONE(d)" "CANCELLED(c)")))

But I don't think that's the issue. I'm not really sure what happened, or how to debug this. One thing that could be related is that I reinstalled org-mode (or removed an old version) some weeks ago, but I'm not sure that's the problem.

I cannot reproduce it with 9.5.3 (release_9.5.3-507-g4f0f24): works properly in both the file and with the agenda. I would suggest that you run edebug on the org-todo function and step through it to see where it's going off the rails. However, that presupposes some familiarity with Emacs Lisp and it might be a slog. OTOH, if you persist, it might be a good learning exercise. Is this the Org mode that came with your emacs or are you installing it through other means? If you are installing through other means, you might want to clean up and install the latest version from ELPA.
