I have been using Emacs since Gossling's out of CMU -- more than half of my life. I have gone from having
vi/ed keys in my hind brain, to
confusion, to Emacs
bindings of my own, to learning
the standard ones, to
aquamacs, back to
gnu version (15), on to
version 25, and I now am starting to forget which trigger to use in my brain to do which tasks.
I have wrapped advice around
previous-page to remember from whence I was when I typed
^V instead of
^Y to insert. (If the last command was
<esc>-v returns to exactly where I came from.) This implements the much hoped for dual of the goto as a come-from ;)
.emacs has grown and shrunk a lot; the base
.emacs is currently 5 KLOC.
