Set up Emacs on Windows to start a single instance and open files in the existing instance
@Ryan I was able to get this working without the need for the environment variable - just needed to ensure that the server was running.

How can I only show different lines in ediff?
Would automatically displaying the first diff be a useful compromise?

Regarding the emacsclient.exe, shouldn't that be emacsclientw.exe? Also, I thought you had to run this with the -a flag to specify an alternative editor if the server wasn't running.
