In case no answer can be found to the question. It has been surprisingly easy to set up the common lisp Sly-IDE in doom emacs. Maybe I'll use that instead.

I opened an issue on github. The owner of the repo already hinted to me, that I might not be able to use it since may because OpenAI disallowed it with all free plans. So probably I can't use the package. I'll wait for his response though. It's a bummer nevertheless. Thanks for providing the code snippet and helping me out. I appreciate it. :)

Ok I kinda got it working now. However, I get this ChatGPT error: (HTTP/2 429) You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details. You probably didn't have this, but if you know how I can troubleshoot this, let me know. Thanks for the help so far :)

Sorry this might not be the most appropriate place to ask. But I wanted to install the package as well. I fetched it with melpa using package-install. But then the instructions on the github page get weird.. I've created this ~/.authinfo file and put the credentials of ChatGPT there. I'm unsure if I did this right.. I also couldn't run M-x gptel-send. Since you've done it already, could you help me figure this out? Would be lovely :)

I also have a ~/.gdbinit file and adding it above the python script and it worked with the off option. Thanks

I didn't have that file. I created it, added the snippet. But it still shows up. I also added that off option afterwards.. Didn't work

@NickD Well as you can see from my question I byte-compiled the package (but an error was thrown). I also restarted emacs afterwards. However, when I just tried again, only some warnings were shown. Does that mean it worked? Maybe now it did. As you can see from my question edit, I already removed the annoying things. So I think the recompilation might have done its job correctly now? " I would suggest that you concentrate on a SINGLE change, go through the process above (keeping very detailed records along the way) and see if it works" I'll keep it in mind. @Y.E. Yes it kind of does. As it turns out (it was just blindness on my part). But I'm still wondering. Why do my changes in the source code don't apply?
